Jack Russells tend to be extremely intelligent, athletic, fearless, and rather vocal dogs. If you’ve ever seen a tiny dog that thinks they are equal to the biggest, that’s a Jack Russell for you.

It's hard to let sleeping dogs lie - when they are this cute.

Let sleeping dogs lie? It's hard when a Jack Russell is this cute.

Be forewarned though, that as intelligent as they are, they do tend to get bored fairly easily so it is not uncommon for Jacks  to become sometimes moody or possibly even destructive, if they are not properly exercised, as they have a  and will of their own and a personality of their own and may often decide to create their own fun if left alone by themselves.

Training is recommended. Not just any training but the best training helps you understand their behaviors and ways of thinking. Jack Russell’s are working dogs and they actually have a desire to please, although it may not seem like it at first.

Below is a picture of Christy, our Jack Russell which surprises most people to find out that she really can be a lap dog. She loves to lay on my wife’s lap watching TV with us in the evening.

Christy also has an extremely sensitive nature and seem to know if one of us are not feeling well. Sometimes she’ll lay by your feet and fall asleep and the rhythmic sound of her breathing becomes nearly like “white noise” and she literally put’s you to sleep with it.

Christy always seems to know when I’m going away on a business trip and of course when I get home, she has to let me know how much I was missed by jumping all over me for about 20 minutes.
